An FPS Server guide for developers It's not rocket science and to be honest, most if not all of these features have been around for some time. However we keep seeing new games released, with a lot of these basic features missing. Click here to view the list of features we've been asking for since 2001

Holidays must be over ... JD made an update post :
Quote:
Hey everyone,
I wanted to give you a quick update as to the status after the holidays. We all hope you had enjoyable times with the family, and whether it was Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other celebration - hope it went well. And of course, everyone can appreciate 2009 - hope you ushered it in merrily!
Down to business - we're aware of some of the new issues from over the holidays. Most notably, more MP level glitches were found. We're aware of them all, and are working on fixes. Many of the various fixes are being tested now and progress is moving along nicely.
Mod tools prefabs are on our list of to-do's, as my previous Sticky indicated. So for those of you modders out there, we heard you =). Also on a similar note, HTTP Redirect is we believe fixed, and is being tested. Now don't get the wrong impression from that - fixed and being tested does not mean "releasing next week." There are still plenty of other things actively being worked on we want to include in 1.2, and also have to keep our fingers crossed our fixes worked. Making a patch for such a massive project takes time. We're aware waiting is difficult, and are working as fast as possible to get these things taken care of.
I also hope to have an update on the Linux bits for you later this week - stay tuned on that.
In closing, please note that this should not be the only forum you look in for PC updates - many updates are global (like discovering new map glitches) and is better categorized under the root "Call of Duty: World at War" forum one level up. So while PC-specific updates and topics should be posted here (like HTTP Redirect or /record) you still should be on the lookout for updates in the other forum as well.
Thanks for your patience, and looking forward to an awesome 2009 fragging with you all!
Maybe but it sounds like it's for the Asian Pacific region.
PBF is reporting via an interview on Gameasutra with Danny Isaac of EA Korea.
With Battlefield Heroes, Neowiz is also working on it with EA, is that correct?
Danny: No. Battlefield Heroes is independent of Neowiz. We actually have another product. We're actually taking Battlefield, the original product. We're discussing whether Heroes is right for the market here.
One of the interesting things I've said to one of my guys about Heroes is that the cartoony graphical style was very much like some of the earlier Korean games, so it is perceived as being somewhat older. I still think it's a great-looking game.
It's fantastic, for free, very high quality. But Koreans would see that kind of cartoony style and think it's a little bit older.
The other thing is that all the Korean men, at least, do national service here. So they know what an M16 looks like, they know what an M1 tank looks like. They're very hardcore into the military side of things. A World War II shooter is maybe not as appealing as a hardcore, modern combat type of product.

Happy New Year everyone! And what better way to start 2009 than with some good old-fashioned (if a bit early) Spring Cleaning? That's what the crew over at DemonWare thought, anyway, and so they will be doing some maintenance on the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars master server infrastructure tomorrow (January 8) between 12 PM and 1 PM GMT. The accounts server and the master server list will not be available during this time, so you will not be able to log into your online account or retrieve the server list. Once this is over and done with, the entire back-end should be a wee bit faster and you'll be able to dive right back into the action.
We are pleased to annouce the release of the latest installment of comMod, Version 1.22b.
This version aims to bring the most rounded unified ruleset war modification to Call Of Duty
World of War currently available.
The main exciting new feature of this release is the new custom weapon select menu, in this a wide
range of weapons is selectable from bolt action rifles, machine guns, snipers and many more. With this it also allows the selection of grenade types, pistols and attachments. An example video of this new weapon menu can be see @
With the wider range of guns we have modified almost all weapons, bolt rifles all kill in 1 shot (mostly) but have a greater recoil, high fire rate weapons have greater recoil, snipers are 1 shot kill weapons. We think these adjustments give a greater need for controlled competition play over our previous versions. As always these modifications are open to suggestions.
We have also introduced 3 new game modes to comMod being CTF, HQ & TDM. Along side there is also a new 2v2 mode option and much much more.

Wolffire games has an interesting article about supporting gaming on Mac OS X and Linux. They go on to give reasons why their sales grew by around 122% buy supporting another PC platform; other then just Windows.

While I was in Target (store here in the states) over the weekend, I noticed several new games on sale or selling for under $40.00. Granted these are console games. I wonder if we'll see a decrease in PC prices because of this price decrease?
